Assignment 1: Drawing Exercise 1

This is our first project/exercise for this ITD module (Introduction to Drawing), and it is actually a group activity which we are required to translate instructions into drawings (without text), in groups of 5-7 people.
For our group, we got the title ''how to make a tote bag (out of worn jeans)''.
Being given the instructions, we worked our way out to these diagrams above. It is quite hard for us since nobody was sure what a tote bag is in the first place, and some steps in the instructions given are quite confusing. Nevertheless, other than comprehension problems, It also took us quite some time figuring out how to translate those information to drawings that are simple and easy to understand.

After drawing them out, we worked together using artline to outline them, and also applying colours (by using colour pencil and colour pens), to make it look more attractive visually.

The front page of our A2 paper includes the steps and instructions to make a tote bag out or worn jeans, while the page behind shows how the final product looks like, with some extra finish and decorations (in our case we used glitter powders, spray paint, thread and small pieces of cloths of various colours).

Update: Now that I see it, we made some mistakes, as the drawings are not to scale, and the dimensions are not very complete and comprehensive. Another thing is, there is no lineweight used in these drawings.
After all the groups have done drawing (before the given time limit), there is a presentation which each group has to choose 1 to 2 representative and try to understand and explain another random group's work, and vice versa. The evaluation on our work is based on how our work is interpreted by others. If it is easily understandable, then we are successful in this exercise.
Assignment 2: Drawing Exercise 2

This is our second project/exercise for this ITD module (Introduction to Drawing), and again it is a drawing exercise performed in groups of 5-7 people, but this time we are required to observe a randomly-given vegetable (our group got bitter gourd), and draw the plan, elevation and section of it, while also applying lineweight and including dimensions.

The scale requirement for this exercise is 1:2,so the object will be bigger than the drawing of it. But at that time, we did not knew so we draw it wrongly, which is to draw it two times bigger on our paper.

Also, as we are not familiar and have yet to study about lineweight, our drawing's lineweight is quite unclear and most are wrong. Supposedly items closer to the eye will have thicker outlines, but instead we add thicker lines for the boundary of the drawing.
Reflection
Throughout this exercise, I have learnt (TGC 1.1) that we must study and prepare ourself on related and necessary knowledge beforehand. Also, I realized (TGC 5.1) that teamwork is very important. If we could not cooperate and work together efficiently as a team, we will not finish the drawings on time.
