HUA SUEN
Assignment 3: Orthographic Drawing

This is our third project/exercise for this ITD module (Introduction to Drawing), and it is an individual assignment. For this assignment, we are required to generate orthographic drawings for two chosen objects, which includes the plan, two side elevations, cross section and also perspective view, and make them in a booklet form, which also includes a cover drawing for both of them.

Originally I chose hot glue gun and teapot as my objects. But after further discussion with my tutor, I had realized that teapot is not suitable to be used ass its orthographic drawings will look repeated and its cross section does not contain much content or specialty.
In the end, my finalized objects are 1-Hot glue gun and 2-Toy car.

We are required to produce a perspective drawing, a plan, two side elevations, a cross section, and a detailed drawing for each object. All of them would be compiled into two separate A5 booklet for each object, with the perspective drawing as their cover page. All the drawings (except perspective) should be accurately to scale, have proper lineweight and dimensions.
OBJECT 1: HOT MELT GLUE GUN

< The plan and side elevation (A) of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.

< The side elevation (B) and cross section (A-A') of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.

The cross section (B-B') and detailed drawing of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.
OBJECT 2: TOY CAR

The plan and side elevation (A) of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.

The side elevation (B) and cross section (A-A') of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.

The cross section (B-B') and detailed drawing of object, to scale 1:1 in mm.
Reflection
Through this assignment, I had learned alot of new things, by the discussions with my tutors. I had learned (TGC 3.1 & 3.2) to think creatively as sometimes I would need to imagine how some parts of my object looks like in plan, elevation and section drawings. It is also essential to know how to draw perspectives by imagination and also sharp and critical observation. Besides this, I had also learned (TGC 4.1) how to effectively communicate with my lecturers or tutors to solve my problems regarding the assignment. Also, (TGC 6.1) it is important to properly manage our time because there will be quite a few assignments going on at the same time. We need to manage well and properly allocate our time in order to complete all the assignments in time, with quality.
