Assignment 4: Studio Design
This is our final project/exercise for this ITD module (Introduction to Drawing). For this we need to design the interior layout and also decide the furniture for a given studio unit, complete with wallpaper and flooring selection.
We are first given the studio unit without furniture and dimension. Then we are required to translate it into scale 1:50, and redraw it again, with windows, doors and of course, walls. We are required to plan our layout and select what furniture we will put in it, then complete the wallpaper and flooring. We should produce a layout plan, three elevations, one section, one detailed drawing of selected furniture, and also a perspective drawing. Colouring is optional, but lineweight and dimensions are essential.

My plan, with indications of all three elevations and cross section, completed with dimensions in metre.

My Elevation A, with dimensions in M. It contains the view of bedroom and the kitchen.

My Elevation B, with dimensions in M. It contains the view of living room and the bedroom.

My Elevation C, with dimensions in M. It contains the view of the kitchen and the bathroom.

My cross section Z-Z', with dimensions in M. It contains the view of the bathroom and the living room (and dining area).

My detailed drawing of sofa, with dimensions in M. It the orthographic drawing of the sofa, which contains the plan, the elevations, and the cross section of it.

My perspective drawing that shows the living room including the dining area.
Reflection
Through this assignment, I had learned (TGC 3.1) how to use my imagination to aid my plan, elevation, section and perspective drawings. Also, I had learned (TGC 6.1) how important it is to use our time wisely in life, especially in doing assignments. Even with proper planning, we need to adhere to our timetable strictly in order to accomplish something, or at least finish what is on hand. Besides this, I had learned (TGC 6.2) from my mistakes and I hope (please) that next time I will not procrastinate at all and do my work when I am free. In this assignment I had applied TGC 7.1, which is to think from diverse perspectives. I chose colours and designs based on what a studio needs, rather than out of my preference and likings, and I am quite happy with my choice. During this assignments I had also learnt alot from my research regarding studio units, in example the standard dimensions of a studio's ceiling height, and also standard dimensions for specific furniture.
