Assignment 2: SUPERHUMANS

This is our second assignment for the CTS module. We are required to conjure up ideas of superhumans and choose the best one from them. We will then need to design our own mask and costume, and have fun acting out our character!
As I loved drawing and also painting, I decided to be a painter and have the power to give life to my drawingsor paintings. We had to design our own mask and costume, so for the mask i used blue feathers along with silver leaves (plastic-made) to make my own mask. For the costume, since painters usually wear old, ruggy or worn-out clothes when they paint, I won't make myself an exception and wear something very dazzling, as I will never do that in real life. So i wore quite casually but not too slacky, adding on an apron on myself. I wanted to make a magic paint brush, and after some thinking I decidedto use a mop (its new and clean) as mygiant magic paint brush, with some touching up and modification.

I had a really hard time tieng the end of the mob. For a better visual efect, the rope that I use to tie the end of mop should not be seen, so I had to use a transparent, thin rope to fulfill that cause. Since its very thin (its actually fishing line), It was REALLY hard to hold the big and bushy mop's end into a pointy paint brush end. I used more than two hours just for this, If I'm remembering it correctly.

However, after all the hassle thoough, I'm not really happy with the outcome. But at that time, I thought, I will just go with it 'lah'.
I knew with my casual costume, my mask and my paint brush on, I will still look quite plain. So I had an idea: I can draw something on both my hands, with colourful markers to add on some spark.

In the end I'm still not happy with my appearance. It is way out of my original expectations. But it is the day of presentation, so I couldn't do anything more.

Though, I still do not regret the idea of choosing to be a painter and chose the power of granting life to my artworks. Afterall, this power is what I really would be happy to have.
Idea Journal
Time for the Idea Journal again! I'm quite happy to do this cause I liked drawing, and especially drawing people. And i get to design alot of superhumans, my own superhumans with powers I designed for them! I was quite excited at the beginning, and I thought i did well on the first superhuman, the Time Maiden. But unexpectedly my enthusiasm dropped quickly on completing (painting) the second and third idea, but luckily I still manage to bring it back on the fourth idea.
First idea: Maiden

Reflection
From this assignment, I learnt that we should not procrastinate on doing anything, especially our works, as doing so we will have a high risk of not being able to complete our work, and rushing it all at once will make even the best students feel stressful and boring, and there is a chance to lose interest and enthusiasm in continuing our work. And when that happens, we will not even be able to produce a satisfiable or desirable outcome, let alone it be perfect or lovable.

We should be more engaged in our works to be more enthusiastic towards it, and would be more willing to take initiative to make progress. I have to say I'm not very happy with myself in this assignment. But past is in the past, so I had to accept the fact that I screwed up, and I did not get what I wanted from the beginning. Nonetheless I will keep this as a lesson and keep on improving myself in the future.

All in all, in this assignment, I had developed the TGC 3.1, to learn to think critically and creatively, to decide what suits us best and how to present it to others, which includes our lecturers and coursemates. We need to be creative in the choice or superpower we choose, as well as in the design of our masks and costumes.
​
Other than that,I had learnt the importance of TGC 6.1, which is to manage one self and be self-reliant. We had to manage everything ourselves as we are not kids anymore, and do whatever necessary because it is our responsibility to do so. procrastinating not only wastes time, it wastes our energy and spirit, in a way we wouldn't notice.
​
From this, I had gained the TGC 6.2, to reflect on my actions and learning. I won't deny what I did nor find excuses for it, and I will face its consequences with a learning heart.
